My books

Books I've read:

Quarter 4

Woodsong: This book is extremely fascinating and compelling. It's not just a book of the author writing an story, but this author was in the story. He was basically writing a journal about himself and synthesizing his experience with starting as this pathetic person who became successful later through life. This book is depicting of the author, Gary Paulson, what he encounters through this horrible journey through the harsh conditions of the winter and labyrinth of forest's. His companions were this dogsled team who supported and suffered with him. He's sledding down the Alaskan Mountain range while he comes towards a tragic outcome. While he's having these conflicting psychology problems and possibly developing schizophrenia. He recounts the most significant abrupt aspects of his life to show them to the audience to show what he suffered through.

My thoughts: This has been and interesting experience since this book describes vividly about his life. I was flabbergasted when he was living in poverty and in an unpleasant home at the time. Then he rose from those adversities and difficulties and found a place to pursue his ambitions. As I was reading I was a bit perplexed on the story but then I gradually know what was happening. It's about 130 pages if you're interested in short novels and love adventure and hardships. By Gary Paulson which I also recommend another book which is called Hatchet and I wrote a blog about that if you want to check it out. Anyway, bye and thanks for seeing my blog.

Ask Me No Questions: The book is mainly adventure, racial prejudice, and terrisom. The book's author is by Marina Budhos which quoted "Although this is a work of fiction, these are the events that inspired this book." (Endnote) The book is about how this Muslim's family is secretly hiding from the outside world. Before the tragic atrocity which was 9/11, Nardira family was safe until and unbearable and unpredictable event stuck. After 9/11 Muslim's were now in severe danger from the casualties that occurred and now the Muslim's are being held accountable for these complicit and infamous wrongdoings. For Nardira family she has two sisters, one uncle, one aunt, on mom, and one dad. After as everything seems spectacular it turns around immediately when Nardira Father was apprehended and is detained at the border of Canada. Nardira and her older sister Aisha are to relocate towards Queens and just go on with their lives. As their whole family lives in this solutide of regret and fear. Aisha breaks down and can't come to her senses but she is always a reliable and responsible and now her emotions conceal her self within. They try to find a way to release their father. However, the cost is more deavasting.
Thoughts: Everyone is dealing with there adverse moments and conflicting attributes. They have to stand aside with living in America but can't find the right way to do so. As said on the endnote. This may be a fiction story but is actually still happening around us. I really do enjoy that the book was inspired to create this book and show that there are plethora of catastrophes that happen in our world and we can't resolve every single one of them but we can develop more steps towards there tragedies. On the back cover of the  book it states "critically acclaimed author Marina Buddhism has given us a searing portrait of contemporary America in the days of terrorism, orange alerts, and the Patriot Act, and a moving and important story about somthing most people take for granted- citizenship and acceptance in their country." I choose this quote because it really resonated with the world on how there are still many issues around parts of the world and this is one of them that people really have a passion for. To gain that trust and an benevolent friendship.

How I Live Now: This is by Meg Rosoff who creates this fantastic and fancying books. Release in 2004 and became a movie in 2013. The genre is typically realistic fiction of how the book discusses about WW2. But mostly the book consist of adventure, survival, terrorism, and love. A fifteen year old girl Dasiy travel from New York towards England were she found her cousins Obsert, Isaac, Piper, and Edmond. (Daisy actually found that she loves Edmond) The book covers a bit a of real life causalities and predicaments. Mostly about wars, famine, and poverty in our world. Going back to the story she is being kept hostage by an unamed adversary. She espaces what she has in her inventory and with Piper. Overall, the book handles with anxiety and shows that terrorism is still surrounding us.

Thoughts: I like how this books intergrates terrisom into a book that depicts a more enormous meaning. As I read through the book I noticed that the book explains the true essence of how different living between a war or in a safe environment can cause some empathy and emotions towards you. You will also notice that at the back cover of the book it describes how we live in terrisom. "It's a stunning and unforgettable first novel that captures the essence of the age of terroism: how we live now" It's interesting how realistic books correspond towards us in our world. Anyways, I just like to say that the book complies with love and enemy's and how this book has a much deeper meaning than the surface. All in all I give this book a 9/10 for the great imagery and visuals that I pictured and how the characters explore that life can be a cruel location but also a magnificent one too.

Quarter 3

Hatchet: By Gary Paulson is a extraordinary and marvelous book that takes survival with isolation. This book starts off when suddenly Brian Robeson is pumlpting towards the ground as the plane is descending and will eventually crash. He was with the pilot but unfortunately for him he had an brutal heat attack inflicting on him. Soon Brain luckily and just barely survived the impact as he crash onto a lake in Canada. He felt sorry that he couldn't do anything for the pilot, and know that the pilot was probably filled with water by now while he had the heart attack. Brian was scared and frightened that he witnessed a death and he couldn't do anything. Now he was in an unfamiliar place that he doesn't recognize. The only items he has is his hatchet and his bare hands. He still recalls the divorce between his parents and the secret. But Brain has no time to cry in his sorrow and has to rely of his tenacity and determination to plow through this unpleasant event that had occurred. He has no contact or someway for someone to rescue him and he tries for 2 months to survive in this forest with devastating mosquitoes, natural disasters, and loneliness that concedes him. Read for yourself if he survived and goes back home.

Adrift: This book was written by Paul Griffin and is an adventurous/survival book if your interested in this types of books. As you see the cover of the book it states a quote saying "A beautiful, haunting, horrific tale. Read this one when you won't be disturbed-Paul Griffin deserves your undivided attention." That quote resonanced with me that this book will take a chilling and heartbreaking turn throughout the book. Anyway the story arises and ascends with this character named Matt and his best pal John. Those two arrived to Montauk for the summer and met this group of people that the story takes a drift towards the ocean. Matt meets these 3 other characters Driana, JoJo, and Stef. This is were the story takes off on the shore than immediately into cold unwanted ocean. Driana ask Matt and John to join them for a party at there house. As they got there John seemed apprehensive about going to a party will unfamiliar people you saw with 3 hours ago. When they stepped inside the interior and exterior was astonishing. They spent their time at the party until when Stef decided to go sufing. Two of the five had an unfortunate mishaps that leads to more problems. Matt, John, Driana and JoJo were trying to help Stef when she collapse from her surf board and pulverized her head onto the board which lead to an concussion. JoJo, Stef, Matt, and Driana they eventually lifted her body onto the boat and that's were the events started happening. The boat drifted away onto the malevolent sea. As the five were abandoned out to sea they have to not lose to sanity and stay clam. As they voyage for countless of number of days few people were now forget as a  carcass. If your want to read this book and find out if the five teens were ever rescued or live them read the book Adift by Paul Girffin. What would you do if you were stranded out to sea?

Fire Girl: This book was written by Tony Abbott and wrote this book for a true purpose. The book has the main typical character named Tom who is nervous, frightened, and shy. He also dreams about saving this girl name Courtney with his cliche superpowers. He also has a friend named Jeff who he talks to but after the incident they don't talk to each other as much. There lives change when this Girl named Jessica came into the picture. Jessica is this girl who was severely burn and has to face her adversities that await her. Her horrid appearance shocks everyone when she sets her burned body into the classroom. As Tom saw here he felt spamthy for her and the students exchanged glances at each other as they look at the new student. Through the book Jeff said his uncle was coming this weekend and he was bringing his Cobra car. Tom was ecstatic and glad to hear the news. As he grew a more social bond towards Jessica the day he return the books or the assignments the teacher ask him to do. Tom's friendship with Jeff was coming to an end soon as well for Jessica. The kids mock, criticize, and insult behide her back. Tom however stands by her as her only friend that cares for no matter the appearance. And at the end of the book it doesn't end how you might think. Plenty of apprehensive  events occur during the duration of this book. At the back cover of the book it illustrates a meaningful quote. "Even the smallest of gestures can have a profound impact on someone's life" Basically it's showing that acts of kindness can receive a dramatic change towards that person even if it's something little like meeting someone for the first time. I also love about this book that it gives you questions of how you will feel being Jessica or Tom and will you act differently? If everyone was afraid of someone will you still belive their trust and hold their hand?

Dead Upon a Time: I know this is Ironic. The title of the book has "dead" in it. And my previous book also had "dead" in it. Anyway it was written by Elizabeth Paulson which was her first book back in 2015. Ok the story starts off with this main character named Kate but her real name is called Katerina hood. She was carrying a basket filled with a plethora of food to get to her Grandmother house which she calls Nan. Suddenly, as soon she was going to get there she was attack by a aggressive pack of wolfs. She defended herself as best she can, but was left with a bloody scar that was at her leg. She later use a rage and cloth to stop the bleeding. She opens the door to the cottage but her Nan wasn't there. Kate tried to find any clues but came upon to find a horrid and disturbing  tapestries. As she looked she was distraught and applauded to see her Nan have this. New later investigated to find out what happen. Along the way she finds Jack her friend/foe, and she tag him along. Jack and Kate tried to find out what happen to her grandmother. They later stubbled upon an angry mob. They were held captive at the castle, where the King also had a problem where she couldn't find his daughter. There journey was brutal, as they tried to find who is keeping these people hostage. As they try to find who did this they had to know why. If you want to read what happens at the end then you can read "Dead Upon a Time" for yourself. Hope you like this blog and bye.

Strike Three You're Dead: Now the title sounds morbid and depressing, but is very interesting. It was by Josh Berk who mostly writes books for children and young teens. There is the main character Lenney Norbeck, and he is unfortunately and sadly horrible at baseball. As he qouted "the worst there ever was." Sooner or later he will find out that he's not the unskilled player and someone else is. Anyway, he has his two friends, Mike and other Mike. (I know Ironic) The Mikes live in separate houses and they try be rendezvous or meet up at one of the location. Lenney dream or goal is to be an announcer than actually playing baseball. The Mikes call him "the boy with the golden voice." Literally he can impersonate any voice he can, but for baseball he usually uses any typical announcer voice. The Mikes notice a contest for the absolute best Armchair Announcer. They set it up for Lenny to be what he wanted. Lenney get's extremely ecstatic and wins the prize as the broadcaster for one inning an to attend the Phillies game. However everything turned into a pile of dust and seem like it was disintegrated. As Lenney was about to do his inning, a tragedy yet heartbreaking scene. A yound lad fresh out the minors collapse to the ground. Lenney and his friends investigate, while taking along other members. The cause was a heart attack, and Lenney suspects that something really bad and different happened. As they try to seek who killed R.J Weathers.

My view: As I read the title, and the summary at the back cover. I realize that this is my type of book, and I like reading mystery and brutal death. I like how the book intergrated baseball with thriller mystery. As I read I was intrigued by the style of the book of how every chapter had a visual of a baseball, and how the characters developed from being fans to investigators. In page 217, Lenny had a very explicit and devastating flashback. I guess I wouldn't say "devastating" just him being the worst baseball player. But you'll have to read more to find out what happen. Lastly, around the end of the book. (won't give spoilers) Lenny and his friends finally came to a resolution and found out who killed R.J Weathers. If your interested in mystery and sports, then this is the book for you. And for me I'II give this a 4.7 as my overall rating. Bye and comment if you have any questions.

Seeing Earth From Space: Now this book is an non-fiction book as you expect. It was written by Patricia Lauber, she writes mostly non-fiction books that revolve around weather, to space/astronomy. The book consists of a the view from Earth, seeing the perspective from the astronaut. (while he took the photo) The book describes how earth looks lovely from space and the moon. It also goes in explicit detail about how unfamiliar man made objects from space doesn't even look human. The book also illustrates these beautiful photos of what it actually looks like from top down. Basically if you look at farms you can see intersected farms coming together. You can see lakes and rivers colliding into each other, but also look oddly not was you suspected. Roads leading into city's, city's lights illuminating the Earth. In page 72 the author gave a morbid or interesting sentence. "They think about the the birds and fishes and mammals and plants that will die and beaches with tarry sands." I found that depressing but knows why the author wrote it, to warn us that we need to protect our Earth.

My thoughts: As I saw the cover I immediately wanted it. I always was interested in space, black holes, stars, planets etc. But, I wanted to read more about Earth. As I open the book, I noticed that the pages were fully covered by this one picture of Earth and it's magnificent view. As I read through the book, it gave me information I didn't know. The book kept me intrigued and wanted me to read more. I think the photos truly do give the book a great read as well as the interesting text that explains more about Earth's way's. In page 66 I found a word that confused me. It was called "Ozone layer" as I read on I found out that it was a section of the atmosphere to protect us by using shields to deflect sun's ultraviolet rays. The whole book was a pretty quick read if you like decent short non-fiction books. All in all I enjoyed the book and would recommend to anybody who likes to learn about Earth and space in general. Overall, I gave this book 4.5! Thank you for reading bye!

Blood Will Tell: This book was created by April Henry who won plenty of awards. She released this book "Blood Will Tell" and is a sequel from "The Body in the Woods." When I read the summary on the back cover of the book. It looked like it was a sequel that had the same characters and they finished off there last story and are starting a new beginning. So this girl Lucy was the vitamin in this whole story, but she beings to be introduced later on through the book. Ruby, Nick, and Alexis come
across yet another thrill seeking crime case. Nick encounters a pile of blood that connects to the Lucy case. Nick didn't know at first that he was slipping in Lucy's blood. What I expected from the first book I've read. The author has each perspective and point of view of the charater. So Nick been accused that he was also in the vacate lot and somehow transmitted his DNA with Lucy's and the investigators speculate that he did it. Towards the end of the book Nick keeps telling them he didn't do it and get's frustrated and ticked off that they don't belive he didn't do it. The book keeps foreshadowing his father how he was a soldier but turns into  a twist and Nick is feeling all kinds of emotions towards him. But, I recommend this book to people who like mysteries, bit of romance, gore/corpuses and if you heard of April Henry. What do you think of my book blogs, leave a comment below and thanks for reading my blog... 👋

Twisted review:  This book by Laurie Halse Anderson is my first time reading one of her books. This book is about this young teen named Tyle. He considers himself an unpopular teen. He thinks about suicidal thoughts, when he was beaten up as kid, this boy named Chip threatened Tyle as a kid. When high school came around. Tyle starting working out and protecting himself. Everybody use to know him as the quite, shy, depressing kid. But, now everybody knows him as a strong, protective person that will give a beaten. Tyle has a sister named Hannah and a mom and dad. Tyle also has this crush on this girl Bethany. But... Bethany is related to Chip. So Tyle doesn't have to much choices here. Tyle and his dad don't really bond together. Tyle dad is really strict, brutal, and doesn't care if your on the road bleeding.(In my opinion) He's one of the quotes that Tyle's dad is unforgiving. "I never thought I'd say this, but I wish you took drugs." Wow... Tyle's dad is not the type of person you want to be with. You can tell that is book mature. In the beginning of the book the author wrote "THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR CHILRDREN!" So she's warning you that this book is pretty rough and has inappropriate vocabulary. It's tend to young adults/teen audience. So if you can't handle it, than it's not a book for you. You can leave a comment about your thoughts too. Bye :) ;)

Goosebumps- Legend of  the lost Legend: I recommend this book to people who like mystery, suspense at the end of each chapter, and a bit of horror. I got disappointed at the end, because the  book ending was kind of obvious and typical. The book started off fantastic, then it drove away from me. Basically, the setting in this story is all fake. The trees, characters (expect the main characters)
animals, etc. I was surprised that everything wasn't real. The thing I like about R.L.Stine is that he
leaves you in every chapter suspense. Like you won't know if the charater fell or not. But, when yoU do read what happens next that leads away from what you thought and quite a uninteresting outcome.
I actually read more of R.L.Stine books. I don't find them spooky are frightening at all to me. (My
opinion) All in all, I do like his books of how they have mystery and a bit of frights. Thanks for reading more blogs coming soon!

The Girl Who Supposed to Die- When I saw the cover of the book I thought this book is going to be a bloody one. I just saw a man's hand around the girl's mouth, I think he was trying surfactant her? When I read throw the chapters at the beginning, I Noticed that this girl named, Cady, was abandoned in this cabin in the forest. She was kidnapped, and was going to be dead if she didn't give the information out to the men. Later on she has a chance to kill someone to get out of the cabin. She stuck, Brenner, the guy that instructed to kill, Cady. She crawl her nails into Brenner's neck and smash his skull onto a side of a rock and blood came spilling out. She was satisfied but also depressed she actually killed someone. This book is for young adults who want to find a muder
mystery and blood killing spree. But, at the end of the book is turns into a plot twist. And a glad ending. Thank you for reading my blog, bye! :)

The Body in the Woods: As I read through the book I got confused where the story was taking me. At some points it changes to one character to another character. I actually like these types of books that continually changes to one character to the next. However, I got wrapped up to one of the characters point of view that it changes to another character perspective. So, as I got to the point where the character perspective I was into and then I forgot what was happening. Anyway, the story takes place in Portland and these three characters named, Ruby, Alexis, and Nick weren't friends.  Until they join the SAR (Search and Rescue). As you think they will search for the injured and rescue them to a safe place. But, they came upon a dead corpse in the forest. The characters were really hurt by this body laying on the ground. They then call the leader to come over and call the police and  paramedics.  After, they discuss what happened here. All them went home and felt disgust of what they saw. For Ruby was she wasn't invited friendly from here parents. Her parents were outraged and   furious of
how Ruby went into SAR and her parents thought it was a good idea. So Ruby went into a depression of not going to SAR anymore. As the story progresses it brings in more dead corpses. So  the three
main characters try to find the sneaky serial killer. I won't give you any spoilers but it ends in a plot twist that you don't seem coming. Overall, I like this book and the author April Henry for writing
these books. Did you read any of her books or heard of her? Message me below bye!
